LATEST NEWS: Merseyside Women of the Year Finalists

Capacity is delighted to announce that both our Independent Board Member, Maxine Ennis, and one of our beneficiary partners, Carol Hamlett, are among the candidates for Merseyside Business Women of the Year 2018.

Maxine Ennis, CEO The Rotunda

As Chief Executive of The Rotunda Community College, Maxine Ennis has overseen Rotunda’s development from a small, recession-hit charity in Kirkdale to a thriving hub of community activity offering the residents of the L7 district everything from alternative education to heritage resources, an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ nursery as well as a Garden Café - and even a folly! In addition to running a busy charity, Maxine sits on the Boards of Capacity and also Nugent Care and is a trustee for Locality and chair of the North-West Culture Company. She is an independent advisor for Liverpool City Council’s Rough Sleeping Task Force as well as a committee member of the North Liverpool Business Forum. Maxine also finds time to take part in the Project Jennifer Steering Group and sit on the Equality, Fairness and Social Inclusion Board.

Carol Hamlett, MD Transforming Choice

Carol Hamlett is the Founder and Managing Director of Transforming Choice CIC, a social enterprise delivering an alternative alcohol detox and rehabilitation service to people who have become alcohol dependent.

Under Carol’s leadership, 165 people have completed the Transforming Choice programme. At the point of sign-up, 112 people had unstable accommodation arrangements; but, following the programme, 68% had secured their own accommodation and continued to live in it. What’s more, 32% of people secured and maintained either voluntary or paid work. Carol’s transformative programme ultimately gives people the opportunity to break free from their dependency on alcohol and provides them with hope for the future and a chance to live a happy life.

Both Maxine Ennis and Carol Hamlett are inspirations for women across the Liverpool City Region thanks to their drive, passion, and commitment to providing services for those who need them most. Congratulations to them both on being nominated! Capacity wishes Maxine and Carol the best of luck for the announcement of the winner on Friday 22nd June.
